We are currently looking for an outstanding teacher to cover a maternity leave in Kindergarten (September 2026 - Februrary 2026). You will lead a Kindergarten class and teach literacy and socialization skills to the children. At Renert School, we practice teaching by specialists, not generalists. This posting is for an early literacy specialist; you will teach math and/or science only if you are passionate about these areas.
We are looking for an educator, not merely a teacher. The difference is that teachers teach curriculum and educators develop the whole child. The social and emotional development of our children in kindergarten, and their acquisition of lifelong skills and capacities is paramount.
Qualifications:
1) Extensive experience (5 years or more) at the Kindergarten level. Beginning teachers or teachers who do not have at least 5 years experience WILL NOT be considered.
2) Love of children and dedication to their development and wellbeing.
3) Extensive knowledge and experience with early literacy. You will be asked about specific programs and methods that have worked for you. Moreover, you will be asked to adopt the various methods and approaches to literacy practiced at Renert School.
4) Alberta Teacher Certification. If you are certified in another jurisdiction, please apply and we will check whether we can help you get interim and then permanent Alberta certification.
