About the role ...
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our team in a high-volume production kitchen that caters to aged care facilities. The role primarily involves working in the dishwashing area, along with general cleaning tasks, refilling kitchen chemicals and supplies, and providing support to the kitchen team as required. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:
Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, trays, utensils, and cookware.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the dishwashing and kitchen areas in line with food safety standards.
Assist with general kitchen cleaning duties, including wiping surfaces, cleaning equipment, and removing rubbish.
Monitor and refill kitchen supplies such as paper towels, hand soaps, sanitizers, and cleaning chemicals.
Support kitchen staff during food preparation and packaging as required.
Adhere to hygiene, safety, and infection control procedures at all times.
Report any maintenance or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
Qualifications
Food Safety Level 1 (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Skills:
Experience working in aged care or healthcare catering environments desirable
Previous experience in a commercial or production kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Good time management and attention to detail.
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift light to moderate loads.
Understanding of the importance of hygiene, particularly when catering to aged care facilities.
