Canteen Assistant – Casual (High School Cafeteria)
North of the River
We are seeking a reliable, honest and flexible casual staff member to join our very busy high school canteen located north of the river. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, ideal for team players with a strong work ethic.
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Approximately 16- 25 hours per week
Availability: Hours available during school terms only (school holidays off)
Employment Type: Casual
Pay Rate: In accordance with the Fast Food Industry Award $33.19 per hour(Over 21 years old)
Permanent residents only need to apply
Key Responsibilities
Food preparation
Basic cooking skills (not essential but beneficial)
Counter service
EFTPOS and cash handling
Cleaning and washing up
Packing away deliveries
Replenishing stock in kitchen and service areas
Maintaining excellent customer service standards
Following instructions efficiently
Essential Requirements
High levels of personal hygiene
Honest, reliable and consistently punctual
Strong communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail
Ability to learn new tasks quickly
Flexible availability and willingness to work any shift required
Mandatory Requirements
Working With Children Check (current or willing to obtain)
Food Safety Certificate (free online course acceptable)
Desirable Skills
Strong money-handling skills and mental math skills
Previous experience in food service, hospitality or canteen work (preferred but not essential)
