Job Title: Shop Helper

Job Description

As a Shop Helper, you will primarily focus on final production tasks such as cutting frames in the wood shop and hollow metal shop, and assisting in the stain/paint area. Your main area of work will be the wood shop. You will also help with loading and staging products for delivery and occasionally assist with deliveries. This role involves using various power tools and equipment to drill holes, install hardware, and make precise cuts in doors for handles and glass plates. You will also be responsible for grinding, finishing, and applying spot putty to fill holes.

Responsibilities

• Cut frames in the wood shop and hollow metal shop.

• Assist in the stain/paint area.

• Load and stage products for delivery.

• Use power tools to drill holes and install hardware on doors.

• Cut holes in doors for handles and glass plates.

• Route areas for hinges on doors by hand or machine.

• Attach hardware as needed.

• Cut angles for door corners.

• Install glass in doors and side panels.

• Perform grinding, finishing, and apply spot putty to fill holes.

Essential Skills

• 1 year of production experience.

• Attention to detail, especially for high-end finishing.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with blueprints and assembly.

• Proficiency with tape measure and power tools.

• General labor and woodworking skills.

• Preferred but not required: Valid Driver's License to drive company vehicle upon permanent hire.

Work Environment

You will work in a clean, well-laid out shop with a team of 8-10 people. The shop does not have AC, but it has plenty of doors and fans to keep it ventilated. Training will be provided by the production supervisor. The work hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 AM - 12 PM on Friday, rotating back to 8 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Expect minimal overtime.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Kitchen Staff Duties:

• Support the kitchen manager in daily operations

• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (knead dough, make fillings, and handle raw materials.

• Follow standard procedure (SOP) to prepare and cook food

• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, appliances and workstations

• Follow standard recipes and special diet orders

• Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes

Qualifications:

• Past experiences working as a cook, chef, or in a similar role within a high-volume production kitchen or food service environment preferred

• Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus

• Ability to lift items over 30 lbs
