Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

As the Kōawa Studios Commercial Technician, you will be the primary technical expert supporting the specialised Sound, Editing, and Production studios—including the Virtual Production Stage—used by both the Bachelor of Digital Screen and commercial partners. You will manage technical resources, provide hands-on support, and ensure the smooth operation of facilities for students, staff, and external clients. Your role includes maintaining equipment, coordinating facility use, liaising with industry professionals, and providing technical training and mentorship to support academic programmes and students as required.

Mōu | Who You Are

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

At least 5 years extensive experience in sound recording, film/TV production, or post-production.

High-level expertise in filmmaking and sound technologies, especially digital workflows.

Experience working in the film, television, gaming, or music industries (preferred).

Strong IT systems management skills (advantageous).

Solid electrical knowledge, including safe operation of single and three-phase power and basic soldering skills.

Experience in mentoring or teaching (desirable).

A Bachelor's degree (NZQA Level 7) and a current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
