Job Description

KPMG is one of the most trusted and respected global professional services firms. Through depth of expertise, clarity of insight and strength of purpose we help our clients solve complex problems, steer change, strengthen, transition and grow.

KPMG’s Deal Advisory team support clients with high-value strategic and financial decisions, typically in the context of M&A or large-scale capital investment. We bring financial analysis, commercial acumen and market insights to deliver sound investments and fuel New Zealand’s prosperity.

Our Deal Strategy team help our clients to realise value and achieve strategic objectives through quantified and well-informed planning to execute results. This includes commercial due diligence, strategy and market entry assessment, synergies evaluation, and integration & separation advice. We take a data-led approach to create value for businesses through an end-to-end financial & operational assessment – helping to identify and deliver implementable initiatives to improve EBITDA and cash flow.

The Opportunity

Our Deal Analytics service line is a fast-growing team focused on delivering business insights to our clients in fast-moving deal speed transactions and advisory engagements. We are passionate about designing data-driven solutions for our clients, turning data into value-generating insights.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic professional to join our team at Analyst or Senior Analyst level.
You will spend half of your time interacting with clients and the other half working on data models & analysis.
You will get exposure to value creation in your role and will develop commercial deal advisory skills within this team.

Day To Day You Will

Interact with clients' senior management groups on a regular basis to better understand their business and requirements.
Create visualizations and reports that tell a clear and compelling story, where you will be comfortable communicating your findings to key stakeholders across a range of Deal Advisory engagements.
Use reporting tools, applications, and queries or scripts.
Build and maintain dimensional data models.
Be comfortable working at pace with high attention to detail across multiple projects at once.
Assist with identifying and articulating process improvements to aid our growth.
Identify and proactively respond to new business opportunities to provide added value to clients.
Keep up with new trends in the industry and with the latest technologies for data manipulation.
Integrate data workflows from different sources using ETL (Extract, transform, load) processes.

What You'll Bring To Our Team

A quantitative degree and/or equivalent experience e.g. Business Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Computer Science, Accounting, Economics or Statistics.
Previous experience with Power Query and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI or Tableau).
Fast learning skills to thrive in a fast-paced, high demand environment.
An ability to construct insights from complex data and concepts in a short timeframe.
An ability to communicate and present to stakeholders with various backgrounds.
Good understanding of data modelling and ETL framework.
Strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
An interest in the way an organisation operates, and like using mathematical and analytical techniques to help it to develop better services, products, business practices and systems.
A passion for data, data engineering, data science, advanced visualisation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine learning.
You don't need previous consulting experience but if you have worked in a client facing role or presented findings to senior stakeholders, we would like to hear from you.
Experience with coding languages such as DAX, M, SQL, Python, VBA, etc would also be an advantage
