Job description
A great opportunity to join a dynamic lab working to understand the inflammatory response in health and disease. The role is based within the Hoyle/Brough lab which forms part of a wider community studying inflammation and brain inflammation. The role is full-time for 18 months and is funded by The Dowager Countess Eleanor Peel Trust. The successful applicant will be expected to assist lab members with experiments, in addition to assisting with the general running of the lab and taking control of certain lab duties. Experience in cell culture, molecular and cell biology, and in vitro and in vivo models of inflammation is essential, and in lab techniques such as flow cytometry is an advantage.

Laboratory Technician
Gloucester
c£28k per annum
Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm Friday 8am to 2pm
The Laboratory Technician role is day to day testing and monitoring of the chemical production environment as per the testing schedules. Working with the team, the Laboratory Technician will perform the day to day testing and monitoring of samples; escalating issues and concerns as per the escalation process.
The role –
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual testing as per the laboratory testing schedule
• Communicate test fails and escalate issues as per the escalation process.
• Make chemical additions to, and discards from, process solutions in a safe manner as per H&S instructions and procedures.
• Work proactively to support production and inspection making recommendations and suggestions to address test fails in order to close technical issues in a timely manner.
• Supporting quality and production during internal and external audits.
• To look after laboratory equipment maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and testing sterility.
• To order and maintain stock and resources.
• To perform other duties as may be assigned by the line manager or as per the requirements of the business.

• Ability to work in an industrial laboratory environment
• Ability to track and record data using relevant software and systems
• Can manage timing to prioritise important deadlines
• Ability to follow and work within laboratory processes and procedures
