Primary objective
Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of Berrimah Farm Science Precinct Laboratories to support ongoing research
and diagnostic activities. This includes coordinating auditing, accreditation, overseeing maintenance and repairs, ensuring
compliance with safety regulations and protocols to optimise the efficiency of Berrimah Farm Science Precinct Laboratories.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate the booking, usage, accreditation, auditing, and provisioning of all scientific laboratories at the Berrimah
Farm Science Precinct.
2. Support Laboratory Managers to coordinate NATA accreditation and auditing of laboratories.
3. Manage the interface between Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy (NAQS) and NT Government with respect to
leasing agreements and scheduling usage of laboratories and equipment.
4. Manage the Berrimah Farm Science Precinct contract for consumables, ensuring all laboratories have sufficient supplies.
5. Manage the procurement of the new capital equipment purchases.
6. Schedule the recalibration, repair and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, fridges, freezers, dryers, washing
machines and microscopes.
7. Support emergency disease and pest responses in the Northern Territory through specific emergency roles in the control
centre, including support in the Emergency Operations Centre.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated extensive experience in managing projects, working autonomously and with colleagues to meet deadlines.
2. Demonstrated high level communication skills and negotiation skills, to work efficiently with all Science Laboratory
Managers, Senior Executives and Stakeholders.
3. Knowledge of biosecurity emergency response procedures
4. Experience in procuring and managing supply contracts and capital equipment.
5. Experience in policy and procedure development.
6. Knowledge of the requirements of work, health, and safety in laboratory environments.
Desirable
1. Degree in Project Management or other related discipline.
2. Understanding of the importance of agriculture and aquaculture in the Northern Territory
