Role
You will be responsible for supporting the operations team with the following activities:
Management of the procurement process: dealing with vendors, arrange for quotes and invoices, raising of purchase orders, maintaining of procurement records.
Keep an up to date inventory of orders and consumables and ensure stock levels are maintained.
Carrying out regular stock checks and monitoring the shelf life of chemicals and consumables.
Overseeing laboratory inventories of chemicals, PPE, batteries and tools.
Keeping an up to date equipment lifecycle method with records of lab assets and their maintenance / servicing history.
Carrying out regular maintenance and servicing tasks on lab equipment.
Supervise all aspects of housekeeping and organisation in the laboratory and workshop: managing waste streams, including their appropriate storing and arranging for their disposal.
Assist in the implementation of 5S processes.
You will report directly to the Lab Manager whilst also working closely with the wider team to ensure the efficient running of the laboratories and maintain optimal operational standards.
Requirements
We are keen to hear from candidates with the below skill set:
Proficient in the use of IT tools for tracking, monitoring and reporting.
Strong numerical skills.
Experience in laboratory and/or workshop environments.
Organised individual with attention to detail.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of consistency and quality.
Experience with COSHH and risk assessments.
Preferred experience:
Knowledge of health and safety requirements for workshops and research laboratories.
Experience in best practices for maintaining inventory and ordering supplies.
Experience of 5S or similar continuous improvement techniques for lean manufacture.
