XiteBio Technologies Inc., a 16-year-old innovative agricultural company, is one of the leading-edge microbial technology and ag-biological solutions providers in North America. XiteBio’s IRD (Innovation, Research & Development) Centre develops unique inoculant & biological product lines and brings them to the Canadian, US & international markets to benefit farmers’ bottom lines. XiteBio offers products like XiteBio SoyRhizo for soybean; XiteBio PulseRhizo for pea, lentil & faba bean; XiteBio Yield+ for oilseeds, cereals & legumes; XiteBio Tuber+ for tuber crops; XiteBio Vegi+ for vegetable crops and XiteBio OptiPlus dual inoculant for soybean. XiteBio is currently seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician - Agriculture in their IRD division at the Winnipeg, MB facility.
The technician must be comfortable working in a variety of settings including a microbiology lab, growth room and warehouse. Microbiology related lab work includes quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of products, plating & maintenance of pure microorganisms, experimental planning & setup, operation of equipment & instruments, and overall maintenance of an aseptic lab environment. Growth room related activities include growing & harvesting of plants (including evenings & weekends if needed). Warehouse related activities include product inspection, handling & storage as well as the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Suitable candidate should have strong commitment to accuracy & team environment, detail-oriented, methodical and organized as well as flexibility to work extended hours when necessary. Good computer competency including Microsoft Office is required. Conversant with social media is an added advantage.
A degree or diploma in agriculture, plant science, soil science, microbiology or biology, with adequate experience and a valid Manitoba driving license is required. Farming background or knowledge of Canadian farming would be an asset.
This is a full-time permanent position; salary will depend on candidate’s education and experience. XiteBio offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Job location will be at the XiteBio’s IRD Centre in Winnipeg. There is no public transport to the facility and employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from work.
