Job description
Our client, a pioneering developer of next-generation battery technology, is seeking a
Laboratory Technician to support their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of lithium-sulphur batteries, an innovative, high-energy-density solution shaping the future of energy storage.
The
Lab Technician will:
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.
• Synthesize and test battery materials with attention to quality control.
• Design and execute experimental procedures including optimisation tasks.
• Record, analyse, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
• Manage laboratory consumables, supplies, and stock levels.
• Follow and improve standard operating procedures to ensure safe lab practices.
The
Lab Technician will have:
• Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience working in a scientific laboratory setting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results.
• Curiosity and motivation to develop a broad range of technical skills.

Job Title: Lab Technician
Location: Burton, DE14
Job Length: Fixed Term Contract (Ending September 2026)– Full Time
Shift Pattern: 8am - 4pm, 1 week in 4 a night shift (10pm - 8am)

About the role:
The Lab Technician will conduct chemical and microbiological sampling and analysis, supporting with sensory panels and training sessions. This will include any maintenance of lab equipment and assisting with calibration.
If you are interested in joining, we are now recruiting for a Lab Technician. Reporting to the Lab Manager, this role will play a key part of our succuss journey and you will have the opportunity to be involved in the following:
Role Responsibilities:
• Taking chemical and microbiological samples and analyse according to the sample plan.
• Carry out the running of sensory sessions and assist with sensory training.
• Calibration and maintenance of quality assurance instrumentation within the lab and production.
• Recording data entry and reporting of analysis.
• Take part in writing and co-ordinating effective and replicable SOPs/OPLs that provide consistency of approach and are validated and verified through auditing.
• Ensure quality labs are kept in a high level of hygiene and 5S standards are maintained.
• Involvement in laboratory purchasing and stock control.
• Carry out general duties within the lab.
Experience and Key Attributes:
• Minimum Science A Levels
• Previous experience in a lab is preferred
• Understanding/awareness of hygiene and food safety standards.
• Self-motivated, confident, and enthusiastic person with strong organisational skills
• Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Confident working independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible and motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Analytical thinking and problem solving.
