Overview

Toronto Memory Program, a Headlands Research site, is Canada’s largest and most experienced site for drug treatment trials in Alzheimer’s disease and related conditions. The Role

Toronto Memory Program is looking for a Lab Technician to provide high quality laboratory services in accordance with TMP policies and procedures.

This Lab Technician role will be based in Toronto, ON (North York) and is a full time position.

Responsibilities

Utilize practical and theoretical knowledge to perform laboratory and clinical procedures including vital signs, ECG/Holter monitor, phlebotomy, assisting with lumbar punctures, specimen processing and documentation and other analytical laboratory procedures for clinic and clinical trials in accordance with GLP and GCP.

Experience in manual and auto pipette and complete related documentation following specific protocol

Perform drug/cotinine screen and ******* test as well as urine pregnancy test

Strictly follow research protocol procedures and associated laboratory manuals, and regulations

Organize and arrange for transport of specimens to outside laboratories (Process and ship samples with accurate documentation in fast and efficient manner)

Ensure all laboratory kits and supplies required for study visits are organized in advance

Maintaining responsibility for inventory and supply control as delegated

Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the lab (Clean, organize and disinfect work areas and laboratory equipment)

Maintain study records and logs as required by protocol

Review the documentation to confirm the quality, reliability, accuracy, completeness, and consistency

Assist with data entry, database query review and essential document maintenance

Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities in the infusion centre and laboratory.

Maintain and provide excellent customer service to patients.

Maintain technical competency and embrace continuous learning.

Assist Research management with any other research tasks as required

Qualifications

B.Sc. an asset

Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) certification from the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT)

Knowledge of Phase I-III clinical trials an asset

Effective organizational, time management skills and prioritization skills

Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and keep up with rapidly changing daily routines

Knowledge of ICH/GCP an asset

Knowledge of GLP and GCLP an asset

Aptitude for meticulous work

Good verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team

High degree of professionalism at all times (discretion, judgment, diplomacy and tact)
