As Labour Inspector, you will be:
Conducting audits and where required investigating complaints and interviewing employers and employees about compliance with minimum employment standards.
Using a range of techniques to gather information and evidence to assess whether noncompliance has occurred, including creating spreadsheets to calculate employee entitlements, where required.
Writing clear, professional compliance reports that outline audit findings and conclusions.
Apply a combination of resolution techniques to achieve effective outcomes, including: drafting and issuing enforcement documents, such as infringement notices, improvement notices and enforceable undertakings, as well as educating employers and employees where appropriate.
Undertake a variety of compliance tasks, including fieldwork, employment standards audits, community outreach and ongoing monitoring.
Managing your own cases and where required may be through the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court.

Skills and Experience Required
A strong interest in public service and community wellbeing
Exceptional people skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people and cultures
A strong interest and/or study towards developing a career in employment relations and regulatory compliance
Quickly obtain the information required from employers and employees
Work collaboratively with colleagues and other agencies to problem-solve issues
Interpret and apply legislation to different workplace scenarios
The ability to remain unbiased and consider all evidence before forming a conclusion
Effectively manage a varied caseload with competing deadlines
Well-developed written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)
Previous experience in an analytical, regulatory, or compliance role (desirable)
New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance - Level 3 (desirable)
Hold a current full New Zealand driver's license (preferred)
Be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident (required)
