We are seeking a temporary Land Development Officer to join our Customer Services division. This fixed term opportunity will be for a period of up to 14 months.

The Opportunity
As the Land Development Officer you will provide support and advice to customers, developers and consultants regarding developments. Assessing development applications and calculation of associated fees and charges.
What you'll do:
Provide servicing advice and respond to enquiries from customers, developers and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Hunter Water policies and guidelines.
Assess, review and approve a wide range of development-related applications, including subdivisions, water/sewer extensions, build‑over‑asset requests and Section 50 certificates.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulatory, legislative and environmental requirements impacting Hunter Water’s services.
Coordinate internal stakeholder input, ensure high-quality assurance standards, and identify servicing, asset protection and developer charge requirements.
Manage system data entry and workflow processes across platforms such as the Developer Portal, TRIM and CIS (Velocity).
Calculation of Developer Charges related to development activity
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
Minimum Certificate in Business Administration or equivalent work experience
Direct work experience in government, industry or related building sector
Ability to assess and interpret building and construction plans
Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated interpersonal skills, building rapport with customers and staff
Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
Ability to gain a working knowledge of electronic document system
Ability to use computer software and hardware including PDF, MS Word, Excel and GIS based systems like
WebGIS or equivalent
Ability to gain and maintain a sound knowledge of HWC policies, procedures and knowledge of customer service delivery processes
Desirable Criteria:
General Environmental Awareness – Office based
Direct experience in development assessment
Technical skills associated with water and sewer systems
Advanced customer service skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
