About the Role

Our team is growing and we have an opportunity for a Lawyer or Senior Associate to join our Compensation Law group.

An opportunity to join Australia's most experienced compensation law practice, acting for WorkSafe Victoria within the Victorian workers' compensation scheme and specialising in statutory benefits.

Responsibilities

End-to-end management of a portfolio of statutory benefits matters
Client alignment and service
Reviewing medical and other expert material
Liaising with agents, employers and witnesses
Researching and providing legal analysis
Running all aspects of litigation including instruction and appearing at Court
Drafting Court documents
Engaging with workers' representatives, Courts, counsel, doctors, experts and other stakeholders
Preparing letters of advice
Working in partnership with senior practitioners and other team members
Assisting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
About You

Suitable candidates will bring at least 4 years post admission experience
At least 2 years' experience in Victorian Workers' Compensation statutory benefits (WorkSafe)
Demonstrate a full understanding of the Victorian Workers' Compensation legislative framework
Experience managing statutory benefits matters end‑to‑end, with appropriate supervision
Defendant experience desired but not essential
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Well organised, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Able to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders.
