The opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for a Corporate Lawyer to join QBE's Group Legal - Corporate Team. This is a team based out of QBE's headquarters in Sydney which supports a range of global strategic stakeholders.
Reporting to a Senior Legal Counsel - Corporate, you will be working on general corporate matters with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), venture capital investment and other corporate development activities.
You will also play a supporting role in work related to QBE's centralised group investments and treasury functions.
Your new role
Key accountabilities include:
reviewing, drafting, and settling various legal documents, such as non-disclosure agreements, board resolutions, and transaction documents
drafting correspondence, managing documentation, supporting the management and execution of key projects (including cross border work) and coordinating discrete workstreams such as due diligence
conducting legal and governance-related research as required
coordinating across various stakeholders in the broader legal team (Group and Divisional) and the business to manage implementation of key projects;
maintaining detailed subject matter knowledge and supporting best practice and governance across the team

A positive attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential for success in this role and within our team.
You must have:
Law degree; Australian practicing certificate
Corporate experience is advantageous
Post admission experience acquired in either a recognised corporate law firm or legal department of ASX 50 corporation (or foreign equivalent) in general corporate matters.
