BU Description We are the BMC Analytics team, a highly functional, growing, business & outcome-focused agile team that enables business groups and departments within BMC. Through our data (lots of it!) analysis, our insights, applications, and tools, we empower our users to self-serve their data/insight needs now and in the future.
Position Description The Lead BI Analyst is responsible for all reporting for BMC’s Customer Success organization.This includes the design, creation and maintenance of numerous complex reports and dashboards that are used by the Customer Success Leadership to review KPIs and drive critical business decisions.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of all aspects of data analytics, a proven history of creating and maintaining high value reports and dashboards as well as the ability to work with key stakeholders throughout the organization to deliver high quality, accurate deliverables in a timely manner. This role requires communication and collaboration with many departments and geographies .
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
• Collaborate across Customer Success teams and business leaders to understand complex business questions that data can answer to drive insights
• Design, build and manage innovative dashboards, scorecards, and other analytical services in various reporting tools including Tableau, and MicroStrategy
• Develop analytical solutions that bring data to life using visualization to tell a story with data
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of existing reporting solutions
• Build efficient and accurate processes and standards that build trust with data and provide consistent metrics across the organization
• Ensure end user success through strong customer service skills and understanding of the end user’s goals and objectives
• Plan and execute user acceptance testing for database changes, ETL changes, Database changes and SQL changes
• Develop SQL code and maintain SQL views for Customer Success related data
• Assist in developing the vision and plan for proactive and predictive analytics tools and programs Desired Qualifications (Knowledge and Skills)
• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature (Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or related area)
• Minimum of 3-4 years of work experience
• Business analysis and requirements gathering abilities
• Design thinking concepts or other visualization concepts that drive storytelling with data
• Ability to design and build data sources and reports using a variety of modern analytics tools such as Tableau, and MicroStrategy
• Strong working knowledge of Alteryx or a data preparation, blending & analysis toolset
• Basic experience in scripting with SQL, extracting large sets of data, and design of ETL flows
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Quick learner and a team player
• Self-starter who is willing and able to take initiative.
• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in predictive analytics, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence desirable
