What you will do:
Work within, and in due course lead, a team of credit underwriters who will underwrite Corporate Banking propositions while also personally underwriting such propositions
Focus on large and more complex transactions including Structured Finance, small to medium sized Financial Intermediaries & Institutions, Private Equity and Venture Capital backed structures and lending against portfolio investments.
Ensure acceptable lending asset quality is maintained when originating new customer exposures, and ongoing via individual and wider existing customer portfolio management activities, reacting appropriately to early warning signs.
Ensure strict compliance with Metro Bank’s relevant lending policies, standards & processes
Operate with significant responsibility and integrity including - Personal Lending Authority. Present, analyse, and critique more complex lending propositions for review by higher authority holders – including the Head of Commercial Credit Underwriting and Credit Approval Committee
Collaborate with senior management team members, particularly Director of Corporate and Head of Structured Finance.
Ensure workflows are managed efficiently to deliver timely credit underwriting, decisions and / or recommendations to colleagues
Support the development of Credit Policy, Standards, and Procedures in a dynamic environment to enable the Bank to support customers in a prudent way, including various Credit Risk based projects

What you will need:
Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
Direct Corporate & Commercial Credit Underwriting expertise. Including knowledge of, Structured Finance, small to medium sized Financial Intermediaries & Institutions, Private Equity and Venture Capital backed structures and / or lending against portfolio investments
Experience of managing a team, combined with excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills
Established experience working as a Credit Partner, Relationship Manager, possible distressed debt management / work-out or equivalent
Knowledge of Corporate & Commercial lending and general banking and finance – including relevant legal concepts and issues.
Understanding of wider Corporate & Commercial areas combined with economic knowledge and awareness
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
