Job Description
Are you a data-focused software engineer interested in working with data in the consumer robotics and connected home space? Then come join a team responsible for building a data platform and ingesting, curating, and distributing data that will drive new customer insights. In this role, you will design, deliver, and support data models, data governance, quality, data stewardship throughout the iRobot digital ecosystem.
What You Will Do
• Design, develop, and maintain data catalogs and models, capabilities that will provide or improve management, visibility and accessibility, security, and accuracy of iRobot’s data.
• Collaboratively build on ‘platform thinking’ including data standards, quality goals and procedures, toolset rationalization, democratization of data in a consistent manner, data documentation including provenance, lineage, freshness
• Build, operate, and maintain aspects of our data platform using agile delivery methodologies
• Evaluate technology solutions to inform decisions on whether to build or buy
• Own the data lifecycle – work with stakeholders to define data roadmaps, document strategies and designs, develop new models, identity and develop quality and transformation processes and monitors therein.
• Detect, triage and resolve data issues in a timely manner and apply problem management principles to resolve root cause such as harden data quality gates.
• Collaborate directly with data architects, data scientists, and digital business owners to develop use cases, demo capabilities, test deliverables, and build technology platforms that support customer engagement.
To Be Successful You Will Have
• 5+ years working in data modeling and software development building and delivering data-driven applications with Python
• Experience building and using data pipelines, data processing and transformation frameworks, data documentation and observability tools and practices
• Experience writing automated tests to ensure the quality of your software components
• Comfortable designing, developing, testing, and operating what you build
• Familiarity with AWS cloud computing and desire to work in AWS serverless or managed services such as S3, Glue, EMR, Lambda
• Experience with data modeling and management within data warehousing technologies like AWS Redshift, Snowflake or similar
• Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI or similar
• Familiarity with privacy and security development best practices
