Lead Delivery Manager

Working Conditions:

• Full-time role with a standard workweek of 37.5 hours.

• This is a permanent position.

• Hybrid (with occasional travel into London, Leeds, other NHS sites)

We are seeking an experienced Lead Delivery Manager to join the Federated Data Platform team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of cutting-edge digital products and services that will redefine how data is accessed and utilised across the NHS. You will be responsible for guiding agile teams, managing complex interdependencies, and driving innovation in healthcare through seamless data integration. Your leadership will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality service delivery and achieving strategic goals across the FDP programme.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead multiple agile delivery teams to successfully implement key projects across the FDP programme.
• Ensure the delivery of high-value products and services, managing risks, issues, and third-party contributions.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and innovation within the teams.
• Work with Product Managers to ensure business goals are met, providing leadership in budget management and resource allocation.
• Oversee the structure and composition of delivery teams, ensuring agile and lean practices are embedded.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring transparency and timely delivery of information.

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Expert knowledge of agile and lean methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, with a proven ability to scale these frameworks across multiple teams.
• Extensive experience in delivering complex digital products or services across large portfolios, managing both delivery and interdependencies effectively.
• Strong leadership experience, including servant leadership, coaching, and fostering high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage third-party contributions, ensuring seamless collaboration and successful outcomes.
• Proficiency in using task management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Trello, Confluence, Slack, and Miro.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, particularly at the senior level, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive discussions.

Desirable Experience:
• Practitioner-level knowledge of user-centred design and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with security and privacy standards, including APIs and clinical safety requirements.
• Experience within the NHS or health and social care systems is advantageous.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Extensive delivery management experience with multiple agile teams delivering a product, service, or portfolio.
• Evidence of continuous professional development, such as attending courses, conferences, or meetups related to delivery and product management, agile practices, user-centred design, and software development.
• Completion of an advanced level Scrum and Kanban training, either informally or with formal accreditation.
• People management qualification or equivalent experience (e.g., professional coaching, management techniques).
