Job description, work day and responsibilities
Responsibilities :
• Accountable for the design of a complex electrical system for an oil and gas project as assigned.
• Prepares and owns design basis, data sheets, technical specifications, MR, single line diagrams, logic diagrams, schematics etc.
• Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical design plans, procedures and work schedules.
• Liaising with clients and other engineers to ensure projects are completed as per specifications.
• Resolving the issue with clients, vendors, suppliers, other professionals.
• Maintaining and improving existing engineering processes.
• Perform engineering design and related duties; including
o Review and issue of electrical drawings such as single line diagrams , cable layout, electrical room layout, substation layout, heat tracing, lighting layout, OHL,
o Performs Power system studies
o Performs thorough check and and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
o Performs Electrical equipment sizing as per specifications
o Coordination with vendor / equipment suppliers
o Ensure correctness of power distribution layouts
o Earthing and Lightning Protection
o LV and MV motor sizing and selection
o AC and DC power distribution units design as per the load side requirements
o Cable distribution design, interconnection, schematic, single line, termination schedule and wiring design.
o Selection of cable parts like connectors, crimp, cables/wires, sleeves, heat shrink, glands, lugs etc.
o Preparation of RFQ and supplier/vendor coordination for proposals
o Preparation of BOM, schematic, and interconnection diagram
• Provide input to Proposals for estimation of MTOs and coordination with suppliers
• Support for construction and field engineering as well as the commissioning of industrial electrical systems.
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
• Maintain and plan cost control for all scopes of work.
• Familiar with construction activities & ready to visit on site to resolve construction related problems.
• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
• Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required.
• Prepare estimates and schedules as well as assist in their review.
Qualifications :
1. Thorough knowledge of International Standards like IEC, NEC, NFPA, BS & other Industry codes for discipline
2. Hands on experience of Electrical system calculation on ETAP ; and familiar with CAD tools like SP3D, AutoCAD or MicroStation.
3. Strong verbal and written skills in English is must.
4. Prior experience for Iraqi projects is a plus
