As a Lead Engineer, you’ll take the lead as you… You will build applications for Target’s Generative AI Platform to enable capabilities to help data scientists, engineers at Target . You will be part of a team building highly scalable, event driven applications and leverage technologies. You have to understand Target's business and technical environments, resolve complex business challenges via technical solutions as well as be a significant code contributor, manage overall software development cycle, drive best practices and ensure development of high-quality code. You will drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, build and deployment with a strong sense of ownership and advocate for technologies, frameworks, design patterns, and development best practices while ensuring all code adheres to platform, development, compliance & security standards. The Lead Engineer is a practitioner of rapid prototyping and Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, test-driven development and stays current with new technology to be able to assess viability and applicability to Target's business and technical environments. Technical skills: Python, Java, SpringBoot, API development, Micro services, Generative AI application development experience, LLM, LanchChain, LangGragh, prompt engineering, fine tuning, RAG, Postgres, NoSQL, Kafka, Docker, CICD, Requirements: Degree of 4 year or above 8+ years of software development experience Experience engineering applications for the JVM. Java, Spring Boot & Spring Cloudor, Microservices Architecture Experience in building applications using Python is needed Experience in the past on implementing scalable GenAI powered applications. Understanding of foundational GenAI concepts (LLMs, prompt engineering). Familiarity with tools/frameworks like Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, OpenAI API Experience in microservices, Spring Boot, cloud development, NoSQL databases, and event driven architecture Experience in building high-performance scalable APIs. Kafka and Docker experience Software architecture design (monolithic to microservices). High-level system design and scalability strategies Experience with NoSQL technologies Cassandra, Elastic search, MongoDB is a plus Deep experience writing unit and functional tests and test-driven development Experience building CI/CD pipelines Excellent communication skills with both business partners and other engineering teams Familiar with Agile principles and possess a team attitude Strong problem solving and debugging skills Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work with a limited set of requirements
