Job description
As a Mechanical Engineer with 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in designing manufacturing machines, your primary responsibility will be to execute the design of a designated Paper Machine (PM) section for new or rebuild PM projects. This will involve technical coordination and support in machine layout, creation of BoMs, drawings, and manuals. You will engage in technical coordination with customers and provide troubleshooting support as needed. Your role will also require collaboration with Voith Paper global locations for the integration of key components sourced from various providers.
Your tasks will include the calculation and selection of internal and external purchased parts, including both standard and customized components. You will be responsible for preparing and checking order drawings for customized parts, evaluating and approving supplier documents, and ensuring the accuracy of drawings for manufactured parts and assemblies. Additionally, you will be involved in preparing and checking Bills of Material that combine manufactured, purchased, and standard parts.
It will be essential for you to strive for a first-time-right design, adhere to project timelines, and identify opportunities to save on estimated project design hours. You will take the lead in product optimization and development, focusing on local fit solutions. Furthermore, your role will involve managing technical clarifications with suppliers, manufacturing shops, assembly shops, internal departments, and on-site colleagues.
Your professional experience should include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and hands-on experience in machine design within the heavy manufacturing industry. Experience in designing Pulp & Paper industrial machines will be advantageous. You should have a solid understanding of Mechanical Drawings, manufacturing processes, engineering materials, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
You should be proficient in 2D and 3D CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent software, as well as MS Office tools. A basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis will be beneficial for this role.
The complexity associated with this position includes working with various departments and locations, as well as frequent travel to customer and supplier sites. Key interfaces for this role include Sales, Application, Project Management, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Commissioning, global teams, sub-suppliers, and customers.,
