Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Estimator to join our team and oversee the Estimating Department. You will be responsible for the overall coordination of functions associated with estimating including specification review, cost review, scheduling, risk assessment, and other related duties.
Main Responsibilities:
- Determine material, equipment, utilities, and labor costs for a variety of structural steel projects, and prepare accurate quantity take-offs and materials pricing.
- Compare, organize, and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Ensure that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.
- Review quotes and estimates with the project management team.
- Perform pre-construction duties including pre-construction meetings with clients, subcontractors, and material vendors.
- Work with the Project Manager to create and maintain schedules for all subcontractors and vendors.
- Formulate contingency plans and effectively manage risks that might impact cost and time estimates.
- Serve as company interface between clients and upper management while developing and maintaining good communications between all team members including clients, subcontractors, and the project team.
- Present estimate to the client and discuss potential savings and value engineering if requested.
- Provide management with the best solutions to meet project goals, such as setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors.
- Work closely with the Project Manager in communicating with clients on project budgets, costs, and change orders.
- Build and expand subcontractor and vendor base.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel estimation.
- Strong knowledge of building and structural steel processes.
- Strong math and analytical skills and an eye for detail.
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong command of the English language.
- Strong computer skills and be highly proficient in MS Office
- Experience and proficiency in estimating software, preferably (PlanSwift and Blue Beam).

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
