Full job description
Location: North Wharf, Auckland CBD
Mō Mātou | About us
At ASB, we’re more than a bank, we’re a purpose-led organisation helping people, communities, and our environment thrive together. With a proud history and a clear vision to support New Zealanders in getting one step ahead, our work is guided by the values of Courage, Care, and Curiosity. We’re bold in challenging the status quo, we genuinely care about those we work with and serve, and we’re always exploring new ideas to improve how we work.
As one of Aotearoa’s most trusted banking partners, we offer the scale and stability of a large organisation, while recognising and valuing each person’s contribution. Your ideas, growth, and impact matter here and you’ll be supported to do meaningful work every day.
Mō te Tūranga | About the role
This role exists to turn business problems into clear, deliverable customer communications. You will do this by applying strong data, analytics, and marketing automation expertise.
Reporting to the Chapter Lead, you will work closely with multiple agile squads and a wide range of stakeholders. You will influence how customer conversations are designed, assessed, and improved, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and doing the right thing for customers and ASB.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Delivering targeted customer communications and campaign analysis using advanced analytical and marketing automation tools
Acting as a subject matter expert on direct customer communications best practice, and influencing squad conversation pipelines to improve design and effectiveness
Translating complex or ambiguous business problems into practical, deliverable customer communications
Proactively identifying and managing conversation risks, and ensuring processes and guardrails are consistently followed
Managing stakeholder relationships and expectations, including where difficult conversations are required
Providing technical leadership and sharing knowledge to lift capability and craftsmanship across the chapter
Coaching, mentoring, and motivating others to deliver strong results and maintain a continuous learning culture
Ō Pūkenga | About you
You are a senior analytics and database marketing professional who is comfortable working with complex data and translating it into meaningful customer outcomes. You bring a practical, quality-focused mindset and are clear about the importance of process, risk management, and consistency.
You are also someone who can lead through influence rather than authority. You build trust with stakeholders, support others to grow their capability, and remain persistent when delivery is challenging or expectations need to be reset.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Senior-level experience in analytics and database marketing, ideally within financial services or large, data-intensive organisations such as utilities, FMCG, or airlines
Advanced skills in SQL and marketing automation or campaign tools such as Unica Campaign, or equivalent platforms
Strong ability to analyse, synthesise, and structure complex data into high-quality outputs suitable for marketing automation
A proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and motivating others, and contributing to a positive team culture
Strong relationship-building skills across a diverse range of stakeholders, including handling difficult or high-pressure discussions
Practical problem-solving skills, with a focus on improving processes and ways of working
The ability to plan ahead, prioritise effectively, and deliver to deadlines for yourself and others
Clear, proactive communication and a persistent, outcome-focused approach when facing obstacles
