You will join our Energy division- Mechanical and Plant Design (M&PD) Department

As our new Lead Mechanical Engineer you will be part of Energy Department in Chennai working on various Green Transition Projects globally. As a Lead Engineer in the M&PD department, you will have a key role in our multidisciplinary team conducting projects of high quality and through this become a trusted partner to our clients.

Job Description

General
• Review contract documents and identify requirements and scope of work for project execution.
• Feasibility studies, Concept, FEED, detail design and procurement support, construction, testing & commissioning.
• Must have a sound technical knowledge on Mechanical equipment – Rotating, Static, and Package equipment.
• Familiarity with international codes, standards, and industry guidelines such as ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, NACE, DEP, DNV, NFPA, etc.
• Knowledge of preparation of data sheets, technical specifications, technical requisitions, technical bid evaluations of different type of Mechanical equipment, post order vendor data review and coordination with vendors.
• Should have sound knowledge of material handling equipment selection and studies – offshore.
• Should be familiar and experience in offshore projects – Oil & Gas and Substations.
• Should be familiar with offshore sub-station layout concepts, global codes and standards requirement.
• Should have worked in Global multi-cultural environment and carried out Multi-discipline projects.
• Should have strong practical knowledge on Mechanical Equipment handling, installation, maintenance, life extension, etc.

Job Responsibilities

80%
• Execute work in compliance with the project requirements and the Company’s quality system.
• Equipment Selection, Preparation / Checking of Sizing / Calculations.
• Preparation / Checking of Datasheets and specifications for all the Rotating, Static and Package Equipment.
• Preparation / Checking of RFQ and Purchase Requisition of all the Mechanical Equipment.
• Preparation of Technical Queries.
• Technical Bid Evaluation and Technical Recommendation.
• Vendor Drawings and Documentation Review.
• Checking of Detailed Fabrication Drawings for Static Equipment.
• Preparation of specifications and Datasheets for Piping components like Valves, specialty items (Optional).
• Lead a team of Engineers and Designers.
• Guide Draughts men / Designers if fabrication drawings are prepared.
• Close Interaction with other disciplines / groups.

20%
• Help HOD in other department functions and development activities not mentioned here.
• When required act as Project Engineering Manager for discipline specific / Multi-discipline projects.
• Implementing Lean in Projects – Optimize the engineering and design process in terms of manhours, schedule, and quality.
• Support in Proposals – Estimating and preparation of Mechanical Deliverables / Work package documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor / Master of Engineering in Mechanical or equivalent degree from recognized university
• 18+ years of experience in total out of which 10+ years in Oil & Gas experience and 5+ years’ experience in offshore platforms and 2 to 3 years in offshore substations / Green projects like PtX, Carbon Capture, Green fuel, etc.,
• Well familiar with International codes and standards, materials, specifications, calculations and datasheets for static, rotating and package equipment.
• Have thorough knowledge of:
• Rotating Equipment – Gas Compressors, Pumps, Mechanical Packages, Material Handling equipment
• Pressure Vessel Design, API-Tanks design.
• Knowledge on design of Floating roof tanks will be an added advantage
• Hands on knowledge with PV Elite and tank calculation software.
• Knowledge of 3D Model review software like Navis.
• Good soft skills related to people / team management.
• Strong English Skills, both written and oral.
