Lead Mechanical-Process Engineer

Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Mechanical and Piping Engineering Director, the incumbent will act as Project Lead for the team dedicated to managing the planning, construction and development of mining projects. The Lead Mechanical-Process Engineer will be specifically called to:

Coordinate the work of a team of engineers and designers on engineering studies, basic and detail engineering projects and construction projects.
Prepare time and cost estimates, design reports and estimates, calculation sheets, and equipment and system specifications.
Prepare business / feasibility studies.
Plan and prepare schedules for completion and monitor progress against this data.
Play a key role in the mechanical design of the process plant layout at different phases of the project lifecycle.
Select major mineral processing equipment and collaborate with equipment vendors.
Understand process design criteria, mass and water balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs during project phases (asset).
Analyze equipment/systems technical proposals from vendors in a multidisciplinary manner.
Participate in the development of schedules, ensure compliance with contractual deadlines, and develop corrective actions and plans as required.
Validate and submit budget forecasts.
Participate in contract preparation and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical, or Piping Engineering.
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
Practical experience in mining and/or heavy industrial construction projects.
Strong ability to integrate mechanical equipment into Greenfield / Brownfield projects.
Experience in managing mining projects (asset).
Experience in mineral process plant operations and engineering consulting, with expertise in base metal ore processing (asset).
CAPEX and OPEX project management skills.
Excellent understanding of mechanical equipment design.
Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q.) or be eligible to become a member or hold a licence to practice engineering in another province in Canada.
Proficient with specialized software such as Plant3D and AutoCAD.
Able to communicate in both English and French.
Able to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese (asset).
Good knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook).
Abilities

Comfortable leading a team of mechanical engineers and designers to draft drawings, review 3D models, produce reports, and consolidate engineering data.
Naturally driven and resourceful individual.
Good analytical, synthesis and problem-solving, and decision-making
Organizational skills and ability to work in a constantly changing environment.
Attentive to technical aspects and details.
Good communication skills, both verbally and presentation.
Comfortable working in a multicultural environment .
Self-motivated with an aptitude for continuous learning and innovation in processing technologies.
Previous experience in sizing air and fluid handling equipment, duct/pipes, pumps, bulk material handling equipment, conveyors is an asset.
Additional Information

The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard and/or remotely.
Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
Must be available to occasionally travel internationally and within Canada to site.
