Your Contribution

As a Lead Senior Software Engineer, you will inspire and guide a high-performing team dedicated to delivering innovative AI/ML solutions at scale. Your leadership will be crucial in defining our AI strategy, fostering engineering innovations, and ensuring our products remain leaders in cybersecurity and observability. Specifically, you will:
• Develop software aligned with Cisco's Design Thinking Principles, concentrating on user experience (UX) and secure coding practices.
• Collaborate with design and product management teams to identify optimal solutions for our customers.
• Create and maintain technical design documentation for team use and contribute to user documentation for end users.
• Address and resolve software issues during development and in production to support customer needs.
• Propose new ideas for product innovation and enhance software development processes.

• Communicate product or program priorities and shifts in requirements regarding engineering priorities and user needs.
• Negotiate trade-offs in timing, design, and specifications to meet user and cross-functional partner requirements.
• Mentor and guide senior engineers and improve knowledge sharing processes.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelors + 12 years, Masters + 8 years, or PhD + 5 years of related experience.
• Experience with AI coding tools to streamline and enhance software development processes.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, or similar.
• Skilled in client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks (React, BackboneJS).
• Proficient in front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, Responsive Design).
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with scalable distributed web applications using various technologies.
• Familiarity with integrating AI tools within web applications.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and understand diverse technical challenges.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven history of effective collaboration.
• Extensive experience and technical acumen to advise management effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
• Adoption of test-driven development (TDD) principles and knowledge of CI/CD technologies.
• Experience with secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with orchestration and cloud technologies like K8s, Kinesis, and Kafka.
• Understanding of SIEM or data platform architecture with awareness of scale, latency, cost, and schema challenges.
• Expertise in Detection Engineering/Threat landscapes.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK framework and threat actor concepts.
• Proficiency with detection languages used in SIEM (SPL, KQL, YARA-L, Sigma).
• Familiar with 'Detection as Code' concepts regarding versioning and CI/CD.

The starting salary range for this role is $210,600.00 to $305,100.00 and reflects the anticipated compensation for new hires in U.S. and/or Canada locations, excluding incentives, equity, or benefits. Compensation is based on location, market conditions, skills, experience, qualifications, and other factors. For specific salary details for certain locations, the recruiter will provide additional information during the hiring process.

U.S. employees are offered a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and basic life insurance. U.S. employees are entitled to paid time off as follows:
• 10 paid holidays each calendar year and 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees.
• 1 paid day off for the employee's birthday and additional time off during year-end holiday shutdown and for personal wellness as determined by Cisco.
• Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation annually, accumulating at 4.92 hours per pay period.
• Exempt employees can participate in Cisco's flexible vacation policy.
• 80 hours of sick time upon hire and annually, with up to 80 hours carried over.
• Additional paid time off for family emergencies may be requested.
• 10 paid volunteer days each calendar year are available.

For non-sales roles, there is an opportunity to earn annual bonuses based on Cisco's policies. In sales positions, employees may receive performance-based incentives alongside their base salary.
