1.0Purpose:
1.1 Define the complete description, responsibilities, and requirements for Software Developer as it relates to the IT Department, Support for staff and core business activities of Systel, Inc.
2.0Scope:
2.1 All position(s) titled Lead Software Developer within the IT Department of Systel, Inc.
3.0Reports To:
3.1 Director of IT and Software Services
4.0Description:
4.1 Systel, Inc is looking for a Lead Software Developer to help build a development team to tackle critical software projects internally and R&D; for external projects. The candidate will oversee day-to-day operations and work with stakeholders to prioritize projects and tasks. A successful candidate will need to be involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle and implementation of software systems, processes, and policies.
You'll be working with various departments to implement critical applications that will improve the organization's manufacturing efficiency and impact the bottom line. You'll also be responsible for new project research and development. The candidate must have good organizational skills and the ability to work without direct supervision.
5.0Duties and Responsibilities:
5.1Team Lead
5.1.1Experience in the different phases of Software Development Lifecycle
5.1.2Organize team around department & organization priorities
5.1.3Define and enforce software development policies & procedures according to industry standards
5.1.4Ensure software development, deployment, and management is done according to department policy
5.1.5Responsible for meeting, measuring, and reporting team metrics & SLAs
5.1.6Work with stakeholders to identify quarterly and annual goals
5.1.7Ensure projects are staying on track for goals and set deadlines
5.2Software Development
5.2.1Design and development of new features or applications
5.2.2Testing and deployment of applications as required
5.2.3Integration of internal applications with third-party software
5.2.4Rewrite legacy internal applications on a modern technology stack
5.2.5Keep up with the latest industry trends and technology by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
5.3Software Maintenance
5.3.1Proactive monitoring and support of internal applications
5.3.2Respond to and resolve requests (bug report, new feature) from users within defined SLAs
5.3.3Training or directing users on the correct use of software applications
5.4Documentation
5.4.1Accurately maintain records of requests, transactions, problems, and actions taken
5.4.2Participate in defining and following department standards in documentation
5.4.3Actively document new processes and procedures
5.4.4Actively work to improve documentation
5.5All other assigned tasks and duties.
5.6All work activities shall be conducted in a manner that supports Systel's Quality Manual, Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, System Level Procedures (SLP), and Work Instructions (WI).
6Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skill Requirements
6.1Education
6.1.1Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Alternatively, vocational schooling with relevant coursework.
6.2Experience
6.2.1Would like to see at least 5 years of software development experience
6.2.2Would like to see at least 1-3 years of leadership experience
6.3Requirements
6.3.1Experience with C# .NET
6.3.2Experience developing web applications using frontend JavaScript frameworks
6.3.3Experience designing and developing Web Services and APIs
6.3.4Experience with MSSQL Server or similar relational database
6.3.5Experience developing desktop applications is a plus
6.3.6Maintain a work environment conducive to harmony and production in the workplace
