What's the role?
Responsibilities:
The HERE NDS (navigation database standard) Technologies team is looking for a lead java engineer to grow our map compilation product that creates the most comprehensive high definition live map in the market, intended to support precise navigation for self-driving cars.
Your responsibilities span the entire software development process to include
• Be responsible for providing design and development leadership in delivering products and tools used in creating high definition live maps
• Own and drive technical leadership and in-depth solutions in an innovative and fast-paced environment
• Own one or more components of software architecture in immediate environment
• Develop software that is well-crafted & steadily adds business value, as part of a community of professionals
• Engage with internal and external customers for requirements, change requests and incidents to help define application specifications
• Drive initiatives that contribute in development of software that is efficient, re-usable and reliable (e.g. agile, coding, verification)
• Be part of an agile team, share knowledge, do code reviews, pro-active communication also mentor and guide junior engineers in the team
Who are you?
Qualifications :
• You are a fast learner, with an eye for detail, strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• 8+ years backend application development 8+ years backend application development experience – java 1.8+/Python or functional programming language
• Good knowledge on Oracle/SQLLite & PLSQL and excellent in writing complex Oracle PLSQL queries.
• SQL performance tuning experience
• Experience in development of Service oriented architecture, Spring framework and web services
• Design patterns knowledge is a must
• Experience in data structures and algorithms
• Infrastructure experience: Maven/SBT, GIT/GERRIT, Apache Spark, Amazon Web Services, Jenkins, Linux Environment
• NoSQL data stores knowledge is considered a plus
• Working with mapdata e.g. NDS, GIS, RDF, GDF is considered a plus
• Working with data transformation scripting / ETL is considered a plus
• Able to provide technical leadership and domain expertise to help build the competency of other engineers (researching new technologies, tutorials to group, etc.)
• Able to translate business and architectural features into quality, consistent software design
• Solid knowledge of programming practices, strive to write great code that is reusable, flexible, and reliable.
• Self-motivated, well-organized, details-oriented and a strong team player with an agile mindset
• Strong quality mindset is considered a must: unit testing, performance testing, writing testable code
• Eagerness for challenges, the ability to lead and advance teams of developers and work with a variety of technologies and personnel.
