Position Overview
We are a seed-funded startup focused on using state-of-the-art AI technologies to revolutionize the credit industry. Our team consists of experts in machine learning and software engineers who have worked at top-tier US tech companies like Apple, Amazon, etc , and we are passionate about using AI to improve access to credit information for businesses. We have the product on the market, the first clients, and sufficient runway. We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer with a strong focus on backend development, data engineering, and production system architecture. This role is ideal for someone with at least five years of professional experience, including leadership responsibilities, who is proficient in building scalable backend systems using robust system design principles.
Key Responsibilities
• System Architecture and Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend systems that support high-volume, high-availability, and high-performance requirements.
• Data Engineering: Oversee the development and maintenance of data pipelines, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and real-time processing capabilities.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of software engineers; set technical direction and priorities while fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture.
• Production System Management: Ensure systems are robust, fault-tolerant, and can handle the demands of production environments.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve reliability and efficiency.
• AWS Infrastructure Management: Utilize AWS services effectively for deploying and scaling applications, including services like EC2, RDS, S3, and Lambda.
• Code Quality and Standards: Promote best practices in code quality, security, and maintainability. Conduct code reviews and lead refactoring initiatives to improve system structure and reduce technical debt.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development with a significant focus on backend development and data engineering.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage small to medium-sized engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in Python and experience with server-side technologies and frameworks.
• In-depth knowledge of system design, with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable and reliable backend systems.
• Extensive experience with AWS and its core services, understanding the best practices of cloud architecture.
• Familiarity with database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, and data modeling techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle problems under pressure.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, capable of leading projects and delivering within timelines.
