WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to be a foundational part of our Financial Planning & Performance Management Engineering Team. In this role you will collaboratively work as part of an increasingly high performance, globally-distributed, agile EPM Modeling squad to meet the evolving Financial Planning technology needs of Nike’s Finance organization. The candidate needs to:
Be well organized and model documentation best practices for others
Have a very solid understanding of Finance Planning processes and concepts, especially the Income Statement
Efficiently collaborate and navigate through ambiguity to solicit and gather the right information, at the right detail
Leverage a learning mindset, excellent analytical skills, diligent nature, and discerning judgement to solve business problems with technology
Model technical best practices and implementation principles, providing coaching to others
Distill and communicate technical outcomes and their value to the squad and other stakeholders, globally
Lead design, execution, lifecycle management, support, and optimization of prioritized planning solutions
Inspect technical outcomes to ensure quality standards
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As a Lead Software Engineer for one of our EPM Modeling squads, your primary role on the team will be to gather requirements, communicate technical outcomes, and lead solution design, build, and optimization of Anaplan Financial Planning models critical to a significant, strategic, long-term impact on Financial Planning stakeholders, aligned with the strategic objectives of NIKE and future architectural standards. You will help ensure we are delivering performant, scalable, extensible and sustainable solutions by being hands-on: doing work yourself, performing peer reviews, providing technical feedback, and ensuring detailed solution documentation. Longer-term, you'll also assist in the assessment of impacts and maintain team awareness of changes to other solutions that may affect Financial Planning capabilities and ensure there is no degradation of service. In addition, you'll ensure technical support and problem resolution of the squads scope meets service level expectations and advise process changes necessary to provide the highest service quality possible.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As a team, we regularly interact with Finance and Technology partners, globally. To identify and ensure we are aligning appropriate technology outcomes with prioritized leadership initiatives, you'll partner with Technology Product, Program, Architecture and Engineering peers and leaders. This alignment is the foundation of your regular partnership with your peer Lead Software Engineer, at WHQ, and the squad's Technical Product Managers (TPMs), one in India and one at WHQ, with whom you will identify, communicate, plan, deliver, support, and optimize financial planning solutions, globally and at scale, along with engineers/modelers within and adjacent to this EPM Modeling squad. The Financial Planning & Performance Management Engineering Team is investing in a significant presence at NIKE's India Technology Center (ITC), with the majority of the engineering/modeling squad to locate in close proximity. Your partnership with your Lead Software Engineer peer and TPMs, and combined leadership and working hour flexibility, is the key connective tissue necessary to harmonize a WHQ-led roadmap with a global delivery model that maximizes ownership, autonomy, empowerment and establishment of reasonable working hours for the ITC squad members.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Finance or Accounting
Anaplan Level 3 Model Building Training
Certified Anaplan Solution Architect, preferred
1.5+ years' experience designing and building robust financial planning models within Anaplan
5+ years of full lifecycle FP&A solution delivery experience
3+ years' hands-on experience implementing multi-dimensional Enterprise Performance Management solutions leveraging tools like Anaplan, IBM Planning Analytics/TM1, Oracle EPB, etc.
2+ years' leading a squad implementing multi-dimensional Enterprise Performance Management solutions leveraging tools like Anaplan, IBM Planning Analytics/TM1, Oracle EPB, etc.
In depth understanding of Anaplan ALM best practices, and experience managing and working across multiple workspaces/models
2+ years' experience delivering cloud-based data infrastructure and integrations using tools like S3, Airflow, Lambda, EC2, Snowflake, Kafka, etc., preferred
Strong Excel proficiency
Solid understanding of Finance processes and concepts, especially the Income Statement
3+ years working within an Agile delivery operating model with demonstrated knowledge of Waterfall and hybrid implementation methodologies
Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise objective, mature judgement
Outstanding written and verbal communication
Results-oriented, motivated, self-starter
