Job Title: Lead - Software Engineering - Automation COE

The Purpose of This Role

The Site Reliability Engineering group within Enterprise Infrastructure combines Operational Excellence with the Development Experience to deliver services at high scale, high availability with resilience by using Automation and Infrastructure as Code. The team comes from diverse technical backgrounds, and the responsibilities provide the opportunity for a variety of challenges. The EI PS/SRE org is looking for an SRE Engineer for the Automation COE team with a strong engineering background and “Automate Everything” mindset to develop self-service and zero touch solutions. Ideal candidates should have a background in software engineering with a desire to learn.

The Value You Deliver
• Development of Automations to reduce and eliminate operational toil and bring in efficiency to the operational routines.
• Define best practices and standards and drive it across the org.
• Help activate common solutions across the various teams within the org.
• Implement new software tools and scale it within the org.
• Help define and execute a comprehensive reliability and observability strategy, ensuring that Fidelity’s systems are always available when our customers need them.
• Troubleshoot stack-wide engineering issues related to hardware, software, network, applications, and cloud service providers.
• Coach peer SREs and development teams on how to build highly available and resilient systems

The Skills You Bring
• Ability to automate with various scripting languages (Python, Shell scripting, etc.)
• Experience working on front end development.
• Experience managing systems using infrastructure as code tools (IAM, ARM, Terraform)
• Solid understanding of Cloud Computing and DevOps concepts including CI/CD pipelines
• Hands-on Kubernetes skills and knowledge.
• Experience working with SQL.
• Experience with Rundeck an added advantage
• Cloud certifications an added advantage
• Hands on experience with one or more observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, etc.)
• Experience working with DevOps tools like Stash, Jenkins, Maven, Docker, Artifactory, Sonar, Veracode, Kubernetes, Udeploy
• Proven experience in maintaining scalability and resiliency of complex environment.
• Proven experience in implementing advanced observability practices and techniques at scale.
• Ability to triage, execute root cause analysis, and be decisive under pressure.
• Deeply self-motivated with the ability to work independently, coordinating activities within cross-regional and multi-functional teams.
• A passion for excellence, innovation, and teamwork; eager to learn and adapt every day.
• Executes with a high level of operational urgency.
• Flexibility, integrity, and creative problem-solving skills are a pre-requisite to be successful in this role.
• Experience managing and interpreting large datasets using query languages and visualization tools.
• Proficient communication skills with an ability to reach both technical and non-technical audience.
• Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups, both in person and virtually, in a constructive and collaborative manner and build and maintain effective relationships.

The Expertise We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology related field required.
• 5+ years of experience working in sophisticated production environment, OnPrem and Cloud
• 1-2 years of experience in Cloud development and migration skills
• 2-4 years of experience in software development with Python, Angular, NodeJS, React or Java with a focus on SDLC and Automation
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration, preferably with Kubernetes
• Experience operating and implementing distributed & highly concurrent service-based solutions.
