What You'll Be Doing:
Evolent Health is looking for a Lead Software Engineer who will be responsible for building and maintaining healthcare software solutions while working and collaborating with our cross-functional teams in Arlington, Chicago and India. This individual will play a critical role in executing Evolent Health's mission by architecting, developing and maintaining technical processes around the Java platform assets to ensure success in terms of both revenue and timely release of current and next generation products and capabilities.
Essential functions:
• Develop and maintain Java based web applications with heavy emphasis on external integrations.
• Recruiting and mentoring new team members
• Lead the software team through all phases of the SDLC using industry best practices that are secure and scalable
• Collaborate with product and business owners in the development and execution of all types of software development considering the objectives of the organization
• Ensure solutions exceed standards for quality, architectural integrity, performance, scalability, security, and availability
• Explore and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools
• Provides thought leadership in the areas of strategy and technology
• Ensures team commitments are met and works with product to establish reliable timelines
• Locate bottlenecks and drive process improvements
• Perform code reviews
• Communicate and interact with Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Hosting Services/IT and Project Managers to ensure project success measure by timelines and quality measures while adhering to the SDLC.
• US time availability for technical calls with clients
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Skill Set Requirements
• Knowledge of Web development using JSP, Servlets, Spring ecosystem
• Hands on experience working with JBoss
• Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms
• Excellent experience with Object Oriented programming, analysis and design using common design patterns.
• Excellent experience with ReSTful services
• Insight of Java and JEE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc)
• Demonstrable experience with SSO, preferably OpenAM
• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)
• Demonstrable knowledge of code repositories (CVS, Git, ADO) and branching strategies
• Demonstrable knowledge of build processes and build tools (Jenkins, ANT, Maven)
• Excellent learning abilities
• Good Team player
• Good verbal & written communication skills
Finishing Touches (Preferred):
• Proven working experience on Front end technologies like HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, jQuery
Required
• BS/BE/BTech degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
• More than 8 years experience software development experience
• Proven working experience in Java and development (6 years)
• Proven experience of leading/managing mid-size Software Development team (2-3yr)
Big plus
• US Healthcare experience
• Proven working experience in JavaScript development
• Experience with Jira
Mandatory Requirements:
Currently, Evolent employees work remotely temporarily due to COVID-1+. As such, we require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router.
