Job Overview
The Sr. Backend Developer - PHP (WordPress Expertise) will be a key member of a growing Marketing Technology team focused on supporting our organization. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Backend Developer with expertise in PHP, MySQL, and WordPress for our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of backend development principles and a proven track record of developing and maintaining complex PHP with WordPress CMS for Corporate websites, event websites, executive destinations, landing pages etc...
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
• 6-10 years of experience in backend development with PHP, MySQL & WordPress.
• At least 3 years experience in theme & plugin development utilizing the WordPress Core API.
• Strong understanding of web security best practices and how to implement them.
• Good understanding of front-end, including HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript, & jQuery.
• Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in web development.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git & Beanstalk.
• Exceptional communication, prioritization, and time management skills
• Experience working with cross-functional teams of designers, UX, and content creators.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Sense of humour, willingness to be your authentic self and a deep belief in being human-first.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
• Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP, MySQL and WordPress CMS.
• Develop custom WordPress themes & plugins utilizing the WordPress Core API.
• Create and update reusable code libraries to streamline the development cycle.
• Work with the team to rapidly address user needs across multiple web properties.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to implement features and improve existing ones.
• Design and architect highly responsive websites from concept to delivery.
• Monitor, Optimize and improve the performance of existing websites.
• Ensure that all themes are SEO-friendly and everything is up to date.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code utilizing the WordPress Core API.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in PHP and WordPress Framework.
