We are looking for Lead Workday Extend Developer to help shape our future product offerings on the Workday platform.

This year we have created a brand-new Product Incubator team to focus entirely on innovating new products on the Workday platform. This team sits within the Workday Product organisation and has a goal to identify and create new products. The team will identify, build, sell and operate these new products until they become mature products.  

Workday has announced a number of changes this year that will fuel partner activity to create apps on Workday. This includes the Marketplace, the AI Gateway, AWS integration and the ‘Built on Workday’ programme. These initiatives provide the technical and commercial framework for creating a thriving product ecosystem on the Workday platform. With this new team we want Kainos to become the leading Partner in the Marketplace. 

You will be experienced using technologies and platforms including Workday Extend, AWS and AI. You will work within a small, collaborative team, owning the technical design and fully responsible for technical solution for one or more new products.

You will also work with our product team to help build out our customer-focused roadmaps. You’ll be comfortable with a fast paced environment, creating proof-of-concepts and gathering user feedback to design solutions that challenge the problems faced by our customers and prospects. You will be leading product certification of apps on the Built on Workday platform.

Minimum (essential) Requirements
• Proficiency with XML, REST, SOAP, JSON, and be knowledgeable in an object-oriented programming language (preferably J2EE).
• Proficiency with Workday Extend platform development.
• Experience of designing and estimating applications to solve business and technical problems.
• Good understanding of AWS platform services, SaaS services and APIs.
• Excellent customer focus, able to assess customer needs, build relationships and manage customer expectations. You will know when to push back, when to escalate, and when to go above and beyond to satisfy a customer.
• Strong communicator, able to communicate with customers and colleagues with impact, credibility and empathy, including in a remote working situation.
• Broad business and technology understanding and a good awareness of industry trends in both HR and HR technology.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and make sensible decisions under pressure taking a balanced view of customer demands and Kainos commercials.

Desirable
• Proficiency in other middleware/ application development platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming language or web development language.
• Experience of designing workflows to solve business and technical problems.
• Experience of managing, mentoring and developing teams.

People Management

Your role may involve managing people. Where you do have direct reports your responsibilities may include:
• Agreeing, setting and reviewing your and your team’s goals aligned to Kainos, Workday practice and your Capability.
• Providing support so that your and your team’s goals can be achieved.
• Reviewing and refining goals for relevance and to keep performance on track.
• Reviewing performance against goals and provide feedback.
• Conducting 1:1 monthly and/or project completion feedback meetings.
• Requesting and providing regular feedback in Workday.
• Completing End of Year reviews and agreeing the outcomes for the year.
• Identifying training to support your and your team’s development.
• Pursuing and supporting your and your team members’ career paths and progression.
• Reviewing weekly workload forecasting (staff allocations and timesheet checks) and utilisation.
• Actively being involved in recruitment/interviews.
• Reviewing attrition and retention metrics.
