Permanent full-time position
Monday to Friday roster – 7am start
Based at the Coates Belmont branch, reporting direct to the Workshop Manager the Leading Hand is responsible for leading a team of mechanical staff in the safe and efficient maintenance, service, overhaul and repair of our range of hire equipment and machinery according to trade practice and our internal standards.
Your typical day will focus on:
Lead and promote Coates Safety First - Zero Harm safety culture.
Work closely with the Workshop Manager to understand customer priorities and align service and maintenance work and resources to achieve those priorities.
Ensure the team has a clear understanding of day-to-day work priorities, branch KPI’s and job responsibilities.
Ensure the team is equipped with the skills and knowledge required to effectively and safely service the broad range of hire equipment and machinery in the branch.
Ensure appropriate stock levels of spare parts are available.
Ensure all relevant paperwork is accurately completed for service or repair work; maintain service records.
Minimising operational downtime of equipment
Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and overhaul of a range of plant equipment
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults

What you’ll bring to the role
Relevant Trade qualifications
Experience with petrol and diesel motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical skills
Troubleshooting, diagnostic, and preventative maintenance skills
Drivers licence (essential)
Forklift and EWP tickets (desirable)
Experience leading a team.
Experience in a workshop or service environment.
