About the role
We are seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our growing commercial construction team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can lead by example, coordinate site activities, and work closely with Project Manager to deliver quality outcomes.
Key responsibilities
Lead and coordinate day-to-day site activities
Supervise trades and labour on site
Ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Assist with site setup, work sequencing, and problem-solving
Identify and address quality issues and defects early
Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant worksite
Communicate clearly with supervisors, subcontractors, and internal staff
Qualifications & skills
White Card (mandatory)
Trade qualification (Carpentry or relevant trade) – preferred but not essential
3–5+ years site experience in commercial construction
Previous experience as a Leading Hand or senior tradesperson
Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing
Ability to read drawings and carry out basic set-out and measurements
Confident use of hand and power tools
Good understanding of site safety, SWMS, and compliance requirements
First Aid, Working at Heights, EWP or other tickets – advantageous
Reliable, organised, and able to take ownership on site
Comfortable using mobile apps for photos, communication, and basic reporting
