Russo Higher Education (RHE) Pty Ltd are currently seeking a full time Learning Support Officer based in Brisbane CBD. This is working within James Cook University Brisbane which is a campus of James Cook University operated in partnership with RHE.
The Learning Support Officer will provide integrated academic and engagement support throughout the student journey, with a focus on driving student success, retention, and progression. The role combines targeted academic learning assistance with proactive engagement strategies tailored for a diverse international student body. The role aims to provide direct support to new and continuing students to enhance the student experience and improve retention and success. This is a full-time, on campus role based in Brisbane CBD.
Part of your role, you will be required to:
Deliver academic skills development through workshops, consultations, and coaching demonstrating strong presentation skills.
Identify and support students at academic risk through tailored intervention strategies and intensive learning support.
Collaborate with academics to embed academic skill development into curriculum and student experience.
Design and deliver learning materials and online resources informed by student data and identified needs.
Provide personalised case management and success planning for students, to ensure engagement and participation.
Develop and implement orientation, transition, and enrichment programs to support student lifecycle engagement.
Monitor student attendance and engagement, proactively identifying and supporting at-risk students.
Facilitate outreach campaigns and events to promote retention and progression.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
Relevant Tertiary qualification e.g., Education, Learning support, Psychology, or a related discipline (essential).
Experience in teaching or academic advising, particularly with international students.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attention to detail and initiative.
Cultural sensitivity and inclusive approaches to diverse student populations.
Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and student-centred service delivery.
Previous experience in a similar role or teaching experience desirable.
