Role - The Learning Support Teacher will be responsible for supporting the academic and social and emotional needs of students. They will predominantly work with students who have mild-moderate learning needs and/or English Language Learners, providing direct instruction for students with learning needs using a strong differentiation model. The Learning Support Teacher works closely with classroom teachers in an effort to meet the varying needs of students within our school.
Qualification - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education (preferably Special Education) or a related field (Required)
Certification and competency in Special Education (Preferred)
2+ years’ experience, preferably in an international context (Required)
Evidence of Professional Learning and Development (Required)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES -
Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
Assess, progress monitor and report on students’ progress in the areas of support, in accordance with ISH’s assessment and reporting practices
Collaborate with classroom/subject teachers in the development of differentiated unit and lesson planning, as well as plan effective instruction and assessment for students receiving Learning Support
Develops and teaches lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities for small groups and individual.
Develops and implements Individual Learning Plans in collaboration with classroom teachers, parents, counselors, and other external and school staff.
Effectively use technology to enhance student learning and access to the curriculum
