Job Description

The Department of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, in conjunction with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a qualified full-time academic Respirologist. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician-Teacher (CT) or Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI). The expected start date of the position is September 1, 2026, or shortly before or thereafter.


The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Clinical expertise in the areas of cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and mycobacterial infections is desirable. The candidate is expected to provide excellent clinical care in the outpatient setting and contribute to Respirology inpatient on-call coverage. They will be engaged in Respirology educational programs and learner supervision at all levels at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto, and will be prepared to take on a leadership role in education. The candidate will have or be working towards a graduate degree or other advanced training and should have a proven academic record of excellence in teaching. The candidate will also collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Respirology at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of 11 full time Respirologists and has a robust research program in diseases of the lung.


Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience of the candidate.
