Inspired by the history and values of Royal Holloway, University of London, as a leader for progressive education, we embed issues of ethics, sustainability, and inclusion as core parts of our distinctive offering.

This is an exciting time to join us as we are looking to build on our current successes, our heritage, and our strategic location, to become a leading School nationally and globally by investing in all areas of activity. We offer programmes at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, both nationally, from our Surrey (Egham) and Central London (Bloomsbury) Campuses, and internationally, through our global partnerships with the University of London. We aim to provide an outstanding student experience, the skills needed to join leading organisations or set up new businesses and be accredited by the appropriate professional bodies. Additionally, we are developing an ambitious portfolio of post experience programmes.

Our research is challenge-led and world leading. The 2021 Research Excellence framework indicated 82% of our research to be 'world-leading or internationally excellent', placing us at the top quartile in terms of outputs in the UK. Our research, which is led by three Research Centres, aims to deliver impact and be externally funded.

The Candidate

The Department of Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) seeks to recruit an outstanding research-active Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Accounting. The advertised post offers an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to our current suite of professionally-accredited accounting and finance programmes and play a significant role in the development of new programmes.

The successful candidate will contribute to both teaching and research, to the administration of the Department/School and to developing opportunities for public engagement. Applicants will be invited to show how their research interests complement those within the Department/School and the successful candidate will have a track record of (or demonstrate potential for) impactful world-leading or internationally excellent research. Evidence of developing funding applications and an emerging track record of success is highly desirable. The Department delivers high-quality, innovative teaching and the successful applicant will share our vision for preparing accounting and finance students for the world of work as they encounter a changing digital environment, and new business and societal challenges.

We are committed to multidisciplinary, challenge-led research that engages with contemporary debates in policy, the profession, business and society. Whilst we welcome applications from all areas of the discipline, we are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate an expertise in either traditional areas, such as Financial Accounting, or in tech-based areas such as FinTech and Artificial Intelligence in relation to accounting-change. The School is strongly committed to the development of all its staff and we will ensure that the successful candidate has the opportunity to develop their teaching, research and management skills.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
