Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be organized, work with an attention to detail, tech savvy, able to perform under pressure to support multiple attorneys and manage deadlines to meet court orders and the firm’s needs
The candidate must be self-motivated, can solve problems using common sense, and possess the foresight to assist attorneys
Knowledge of the litigation process, court rules and procedures are required
At least 1-3 years of experience as a legal assistant / paralegal working at a litigation law firm
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with legal terminology knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
Familiarity with searching PACER and state court dockets
Excellent understanding and familiarity with e-filing in Illinois state and federal courts

Responsibilities
The Legal Administrative Assistant performs a broad range of assistant, paralegal, and clerical support duties for one or more attorneys
Organizes and maintains all files, calendars/scheduling, and other correspondence relating to litigation and administrative matters under direct supervision of senior attorney
Use document management software to prepare and revise, format and finalize a wide variety of documents, including correspondence, memoranda, and legal materials
Candidate must be able to perform conference calls, coordinates and schedules travel arrangements for attorneys and maintenance of calendars
Mailing, faxing, or arranging for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials
Establishes and maintains paper and electronic files in compliance with current firm policies utilizing the Document Management System
Prepare, proofread, or process legal documents such as motions, pleadings, orders, correspondence, etc
Assist attorneys with civil litigation matters from investigation to trial
Draft and issue subpoenas, FOIA requests, discovery, and other document requests
Obtain, review and organize medical records and bills from various medical providers
Interact with clients in drafting discovery responses
Review requests for documents, prepare organized productions with document catalogues, and draft well-formulated responses
Coordinate depositions with medical providers and experts, prepare notices of deposition and subpoenas and assist with deposition preparation
Assist with trial preparation by drafting witness and exhibits lists, assembling exhibits lists, organizing medical records and preparing trial notebooks
Performing other work-related duties as assigned

Job responsibilities include:

Experience Required:
• At least 1-3 years of experience as a legal assistant / paralegal working at a litigation law firm.
• Experience with personal injury, construction injuries and medical malpractice is preferred.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with legal terminology knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Familiarity with searching PACER and state court dockets.
• Excellent understanding and familiarity with e-filing in Illinois state and federal courts.
