Overview

The Legal Advocate for the salon industry will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance related to salon operations, franchise agreements, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience in handling legal matters in the beauty, wellness, or retail sector and a strong understanding of industry-specific legal issues such as franchise agreements, labor laws, intellectual property, and consumer rights.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Drafting & Review:

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to salon operations, including franchise agreements, vendor contracts, employment agreements, and lease agreements.
Ensure that all contracts are compliant with legal standards and protect the company’s interests.
Manage renewals, terminations, and amendments of existing contracts.

Franchise Legal Support

Assist in the creation, execution, and enforcement of franchise agreements.
Advise franchisees on their rights and obligations under the franchise agreement.
Handle legal issues related to the franchising process, including compliance with franchise laws and regulations.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure the salon business complies with local, state, and national regulations including health and safety, labor laws, licensing, and environmental standards.
Keep the company informed about changes in legal regulations and industry standards that impact salon operations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with industry-specific laws.

Dispute Resolution

Handle and resolve disputes with franchisees, employees, customers, and vendors through negotiations, mediation, or legal action.
Represent the company in legal proceedings, including labor tribunals, consumer forums, and regulatory matters.
Provide legal advice on handling customer complaints, employee grievances, and business disputes.

Intellectual Property Protection

Ensure the protection of the company’s intellectual property, including trademarks, logos, branding, and proprietary salon processes.
Assist in registering trademarks and defending intellectual property rights in cases of infringement

Employment and Labor Law

Provide legal guidance on employment-related matters, including employee contracts, workplace policies, compensation, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Ensure compliance with labor laws, including working hours, employee benefits, safety standards, and anti-discrimination laws.
Manage legal issues related to employee disputes, misconduct, or grievances.

Risk Management

Advise the management team on potential legal risks and strategies to mitigate them.
Ensure that business operations and decisions are legally sound and compliant with regulations to minimize legal exposure.
Assist in drafting and implementing internal policies, guidelines, and processes.

Consumer Protection Laws

Advise on consumer rights and ensure that the company complies with relevant consumer protection laws and regulations.
Handle cases of consumer complaints or disputes arising from services provided by the salon.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or higher.
2+ years of experience as a legal advocate, preferably in the beauty, wellness, or retail sector.

Strong understanding of franchise law, labor law, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiation skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to advise business teams effectively.
Familiarity with intellectual property laws and consumer protection regulations.
Experience in dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
Proficient in legal research, analysis, and the preparation of legal documents.
Preferred:
Previous experience working with franchised businesses.
Knowledge of local salon regulations, licensing, and health/safety laws.
