We provide programs, services and initiatives to help improve the lives of veterans and their families, raise funds to support services through our appeals, lead commemoration of service, overarching leadership to our network of 260+ Sub-Branches and represent approximately 200,000 members on veteran related issues.

The role
Are you looking for the next opportunity to build on your legal career? We are looking for a superstar
Legal and Governance Officer who is qualified and well versed in all things legal, policy, compliance, governance and risk.
Working within the Office of the General Counsel, this pivotal role has a range of responsibilities, meaning no day is the same. The scope includes providing general legal advice, maintaining robust policy and procedure framework, policy writing, assisting with contract negotiations and tenders, coordinating changes to State Branch Rules and Bylaws, maintaining risk register and framework, and assisting in the administration and support for the State Branch Tribunal. You will interact with a range of stakeholders across RSL Victoria State Branch and our the Sub Branch Network, including participation on various committees.
This is a full time 12 month fixed term contract based at ANZAC House in Melbourne CBD with hybrid working arrangements.
About you
You will be a hands on and pragmatic legal practitioner who can work independently with little supervision with demonstrated experience in commercial law or property law, with a current practicing certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner. You will have the ability to build rapport with people at all levels and utilise your expertise and initiative to make a difference, in a fast paced complex regulatory environment. People will be at the core of everything that you do, committing to and supporting our mission and values, you will be passionate about the work that we do and relish in being part of an organisation that encourages collaboration, sharing of ideas and continuous improvement.
