Job Title: Legal and Tax Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal and Tax Specialist to join our team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all legal and tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and providing strategic advice to support the company's growth and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including corporate, commercial, and labor laws.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal advice and support to various departments within the company.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation.
Tax Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Conduct tax planning and provide strategic advice to minimize tax liabilities.
• Liaise with tax authorities and manage tax audits and inquiries.
Risk Management:
• Identify and assess legal and tax risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and reduce risk.
• Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company.
Advisory and Support:
• Provide legal and tax advice to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Support business development activities by providing legal and tax insights.
• Conduct training sessions for employees on legal and tax compliance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) and a professional qualification in Taxation (CA/CPA).
• 1 to 3 years of years of experience in legal and tax functions is mandatory, preferably within the logistics or freight forwarding industry.
• Strong knowledge of Indian and international laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
