The opportunity:
We’re excited to introduce a newly created Legal Assistant role within our General Liability team in Melbourne.
This role is ideal for a Legal Assistant with 2–5 years’ experience who is ready to take the next step, broaden their exposure to complex litigation, and play a more integral role within a high‑performing team. You’ll support a Partner and their team of lawyers across a busy and varied practice, gaining hands‑on experience while continuing to build your career in insurance litigation.

What you’ll do:
Provide end‑to‑end administrative support to a busy litigation team. Working alongside
Assist with legal billing, including time entry, invoice preparation and liaising with clients and finance teams
Manage calendars, meetings and critical deadlines to support effective matter management
Prepare, format and proofread legal documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Maintain and manage electronic and physical files in line with best practice
Liaise professionally with clients, barristers, courts and other external stakeholders
Confidently use MS Office and legal practice systems
Balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Take initiative, anticipate team needs and contribute to continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with your team to support excellent client outcomes
What you’ll bring:
2–5 years’ experience in a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary role
Experience supporting a litigation practice, ideally within insurance law
A practical understanding of Victorian court systems and litigation processes
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Clear, professional communication skills and a client‑focused mindset
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with confidence
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
A positive, proactive approach and genuine interest in continuing to develop your legal career
