The Opportunity

We are seeking a Legal Counsel that is skilled in providing independent, timely pragmatic legal advice aligned with commercial considerations, contributing to our mission of being a trusted advisor to the business.

Ideally has industry relevant experience including review of commercial contracts and knowledge of risk profile of the infrastructure and Defence industries.

Prior in-house experience and experience in intellectual property, data protection, and general commercial matters such as lease agreements, software agreements and licences are a plus.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities Include

general commercial law advice including advice on business transactions, drafting, advising on and negotiating commercial contracts and tender submissions, business/asset acquisitions.
assisting with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and export controls.
identifying and managing legal risks in relation to claims, contracts and operations.
adhering to and developing internal governance, risk or compliance related policies where required.
providing briefing and education sessions to management and staff on regulatory compliance and legal issues generally.
liaising with the KBR’s external legal advisors and other stakeholders as required and as well as other KBR staff internationally.
collaborating with the legal team on operational matters and participate in key industry initiatives; and
assisting with the management of any disputes as and when they arise.

Experience & Skills

A qualified solicitor with at least 4 years PQE either in private practice or in-house
Excellent analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Admitted to practice and holds a current (unrestricted) practicing certificate.
An ability to manage files autonomously and also work alongside and support experienced senior lawyers.
Ability to balance risk in a commercial context and provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
Eligible to hold and maintain an AGSVA security clearance.
Must be a team player.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to engage and build relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.

Additional Requirements

Must be willing to travel domestically as required.
Background Check required
You must be an Australian Citizen
Able to obtain an AGSVA Security Clearance if required
