J&P Richardson operates across diverse industry segments including industrial, commercial, mining, manufacturing and electrical infrastructure.
Due to internal growth we have an opportunity available for an experienced lawyer to join our expanding legal team. This is a true in-house generalist role, covering a wide range of legal and commercial issues related to J&P Richardson’s operations and those of our related entities.
About You:
Admitted to practice, with a Bachelor of Laws from an Australian University;
Have law firm or inhouse experience, preferably in the commercial, employment or construction space;
Bring a proactive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to service and a desire to build good relationships within our business;
A keen desire to learn about our business, the VINCI Energies Group, our industry in general, the way we do our work and how a broad range of legal services are provided in that context, including to our numerous related entities; and
An ability to work well as part of a team and autonomously
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to and supporting the Head of Legal – Australia & New Zealand, you will be responsible for:
Reviewing and negotiating contracts, particularly for the purposes of tender submissions and working closely with key operational teams for this purpose;
Providing legal support to the internal stakeholders that require it, including contract management advice and support during the construction / installation phases;
Preparing, reviewing and amending correspondence;
Assisting with:
policy review;
insurance - including coverage advice and claims;
employment – including drafting of employment contracts, conducting investigations and preparing follow up reports, providing advice on disciplinary matters etc;
industrial relations – interpreting and providing advice on EBAs, assisting with EBA negotiations etc;
corporate – assisting with company secretarial duties and associated tasks;
safety – interpreting legislation and providing advice, providing guidance on investigations and interactions with regulators, generally supporting the safety team from a legal perspective where needed etc;
compliance – assisting the company and its related entities to adhere to its own compliance requirements and those of the VINCI Energies Group; and
other related matters, as required.
Role Specifics
This is a full time role, with some flexibility to work from home;
Our office is based at Wacol, in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane. Some travel interstate / overseas may be required;
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
