Legal, Global Banking and Markets Lawyer, Equity and Fund Trading, Associate/VP, Birmingham
RESPONSIBILITIES
Birmingham based lawyer within the legal division supporting a range of equity and fund businesses.
Advising trading businesses on a variety of regulatory, documentation, risk management and cross-border legal issues
Working through the legal and regulatory impacts for a variety of cross-border products, in particular in relation to innovative fund products and algorithmic indices
Helping to advise on the interpretation and practical impact of regulatory reforms on the equities business
Assisting with the structuring, negotiation and drafting of transactional documents, including coordination with external counsel
Providing equity product expertise internally in the legal division and across the firm on regulatory implementation and business change projects
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Newly-Qualified / Junior Lawyer qualified to practice in England and Wales or an EU jurisdiction.
Interested in and ideally with some exposure to finance (e.g. funds, capital markets, structured products, derivatives or regulatory)
Intellectual curiosity that will enable you to learn about our businesses and effectively identify legal and regulatory issues in new areas
Confident drafting and reviewing legal agreements, with strong attention to detail.
Organised and pro-active in a fast-paced business environment
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, who can collaborate successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders including trading and sales personnel, control functions and legal specialists globally.
Previous in-house experience (including on secondment) is helpful.
